As previously announced, Simple:Press Forum Version 4.1 has reached Beta status. Thus far, we have had about 500 downloads of the Beta 1 version and things have gone quite well!
Today, we have released Beta 2 of 4.1 for testing. This updated beta version does not include any major fixes but does include some minor bug fixes and tweaks. Among the changes included in 4.1 Beta 2 are:
- Ability to add new custom message for each group. This is a companion to the custom forum message that was added in 4.1
- Corrected error message some users were seeing when logging out
- Installer now sets default values for the custom logout url and block admin url properly
- Corrected access denied message on front page if there weren’t any defined Groups
- Corrected some spelling errors in text labels/messages
- Further extended the new profile API for other plugins/themes to take advantage of
- Corrected error message on forum page if javascript was disabled
- Reverted localization to be required under the plugin directory. WP just doesnt like it outside the plugin directory
- Corrected erroneous error message in upgrader if block admin was enabled
- Corrected error where search form couldn’t be displayed it top search form and top quicklinks were turned off
- Corrected avatar option initializations on fresh installs
- Corrected issue with online identities potentially be wrong in the profile
- Corrected a couple of divide by zero errors
- Changed Admins to not be limited to the PM message count option
- Cleaned up and corrected some of the online help
- FINALLY figured out and corrected the annoying ‘Insufficient Permissions’ error some folks were still seeing on upgrading
- Closed loophole where spam bots could a use the questionable post report feature to spam admins
- Corrected bug where the option for admins to upgrade from the front end wasn’t displaying
- Corrected bug in the url generation that was causing an extra 301 redirect for forum pages
- Added new form to allow global enabling/disabling or rss feeds and for external rss feed url for the all rss button
- Corrected bug where the avatar shown for members using spf default avatars would be the guest avatar in the PM inbox
- Corrected appearance of the fixed admin bar
- Corrected an image uploader permissions checking bug and updated the plugin to the latest version
- Some css styling cleanups
If you have downloaded Beta 1, we suggest you grab a version of Beta 2. If you come across any issues, please report them in the 4.1 Beta Support Forum. If you grab the beta 2 and its working for you, please let us know too so we can judge when 4.1 is ready for Gold Release.
