I received an email advising that I should update my Simple:Press Plugin (v5.7.5.3) to v6.8.2 but I don't see a link in my plugins page to do so.
Can someone point me to how to update?

Thank you. Got it mostly figured out EXCEPT... for when I try to activate it I get the following error:

I'm not running SP at all, it won't activate.
I'm running WordPress 6.1.1.
I'll try deactivating all the plugins again and try reactivating it again.

Simple:Press plugins and WordPress plugins (and themes) are different things. It sounds like you didn't deactivate your Simple:Press plugins and themes before upgrading. So you have two choices:
- Apply the latest simple:press plugins using sFTP or
- Restore from a backup and go through the process again, making sure you follow the steps outlined in the upgrade documentation related to deactivating things before upgrading.

I removed the sp-ban-plugin, simple press now loads but the admin menu doesn't respond to clicks...

It's possible it's not loading the latest js and css scripts. Use CTRL-F5 to force a full reload.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you're probably experiencing a conflict with another plugin - check the browser CONSOLE to see if there are any JS errors.

I was able to get it up and running finally. Had to play with the plugins for a while and download some new ones to replace some that were way obsolete.
Only problem I see now is that when I try to download files including backups of the site my antivirus gives me an error saying a threat was removed and that it couldn't read the source file.
