Hey!

I have a question and I really don't know where to find the answer, but since Iam using SPF it would be great if there is a way to do it with it.

What I need:

A way to set moderator for one group or forum, which could later approve access to this group/forum for selected users.

(Or in worse case - allow regular users to create new group/forum which they could moderate)

Maybe the reason why I need it will help you guys come up with something (solution don't have to be SPF, but it would be great if yes)

I am editor of game fan page with forum and we are trying to unite players from our country. Some fans asked us if we can provide "base" for clans. Forum group or one Forum is all they need + on our forum they have all game information and stuff like that. So Iam looking for a way to create one group/forum OR anything like IDEALLY contained/connected to our main SPF, set user as moderator ( leader of specific clan + ideally he would be able to add more mods for his group) with possibility to lock some of his forums/topics for regular readers (not clan members).

I hope it's obvious what and why I need it. Thx in advance for any ideas and recommendations.

That's a difficult one actually the way things are designed and set up. The only level of user who can assign users to user groups are forum 'admins' but ionce you have made someone a forum admin then they can do anything in any forum - although you can restrict their 'back-end' activity but again, not to specific forum(s).

'Moderators' can do everything else you want but can not move users into user groups.

I will talk to Mr papa here see if he can think of anything but I am not sure this will be possible.

actually, if they have the manage usergroups sp capability, they can add members to usergroups... so they can be given a very distinct, limited admin ability...  but they wont be able to create forums or apply the usergroup to a specific forum...

a specific plugin could probably do this... create your own backend panel for managing users in usergroups... but might be fair amount of work...
