There have been one or two instances of our new admin form processing failing. Some odd glitches (a user for whom 'global dislay options' refuses to save for example) and a possibility of the query vars being sent on the GET breaking the URL size limit.
I have tried some initial experiments using the jQuery Forms plugin and so far these are very promising. My initial thoughts are that this would not take an enormous amount of effort to adopt but it does, of course, effect each and every admin panel. And that means a major testing effort as well.
There is also the worrisome problem of jQuery breakage which seem to be one of the most prevalent reasons that SPF fails for some users.
But it is probably the way to go. But we will need a consensus on the when?
