I’ve noticed that since the upgrade to 4.2 emails are coming from “WordPress” again even though I’ve got it set to use my custom settings. Always worked before, anyone else reported this issue or is it just me?
It’s not a big problem because I just disabled it and then used “Theme My Login” to handle EMails, it may even be a conflict with this plugin that caused the problem, but they always played nicely together in previous versions.
Do you mean new post notification emails? Ours here are working OK.
or do you mean other types of email?
I mean on my own forum under EMail Address Settings when I have “Use the following Email Settings” enabled it still shows the sender as “WordPress” and not “Techie Talk” with the email address shown as wordpress@techietalk.co.uk instead of the “From” name that I have set up in the settings.
which email? It only affects email sent by the forum… and thats changed in 4.2
Ohhh, right… that’ll be it then. The EMail Settings were global before, in fact the built-in help says they still are.
So, in 4.2 EMail settings made in Forum > Options > EMail Settings will only be appied to SPF emails?
yes, they used to be global, but they had the potential to conflict with other plugins, such as contact forms and override settings in those plugins…
perhaps that should be clarified on that options page… guess we could consider an additional option for scope, but guessing unknowing users would still have problems.
I think it’s fine that SPF settings only impact on forum emails, I just didn’t realise that was a change. I’ll edit the wiki page for that to remove the global nature.
Like I said, it’s no big deal for me since I just set up the “Theme My Login” plugin to take care of it instead
