A few key points about simple-press
We develop simple press out of svn. our repos are at http://svn.simple-press.com so I suggest getting a good svn client for you computer. If its a pc, I suggest Tortoise SVN.
Within SVN, our trunk repo (http://svn.simple-press.com/trunk) is where the current development is occurring. As of this posting date, thats v5.0. All of our releases can be found in the tags repo (http://svn.simple-press.com/tags)… Any parallel developments going on (such as bug fix releases – today thats 4.4.2) can be found in the branches repo (http://svn.simple-press/branches)
Additionally we maintain a bunch of other repos for other sp things… If playing with 5.0, you will also want to get the plugins and templates repos as they are fundamental to the 5.0 path forward.
We have a couple ways of viewing svn on the website. The links above are a simple browser. At http://websvn.simple-press.com you will see a more comprehensive view of the svn repos including changesets and the diffs between files and commits.
We use Mantis bug tracker for our ticket system. You can see the bug tracker at http://mantis.simple-press.com. Thats where we track what is going into the code for each release.
We have a current wiki at http://wiki.simple-press.com. Its really just another wordpress install with some plugins and theme customizations for wiki appearance and usage. For 5.0, we want to start a whole new wiki. The leading thought is mediawiki but thats probably best for a whole topic in the documentation forum…
we also have a to do tast list app we run at http://taskfreak.simple-press.com. That is really just for keeping day to day to do list for team members.
we also have another whole site set up for translations of simple press. You can see that at http://translate.simple-press.com.
You may or may not have access to all these tools currently. Over time we will be adding these accesses…
So step 1, is grab an svn client and grab a copy of the code…
