actually yes – can you tell me about this parse error please? I don't see any problems at that line (you sent in your email) so I would be most interested to know what you fixed?
The cryptic message 'No Good Users' (one of those things still to clean up of course) means that when the importer attempted to interrogate the database using the settings you supplied – in this case to count the number of users to be imported – it either found none or was unable to connect to the database at all. I still have some error trapping work to do but I am inclined to thinking that it was the first condition – found no users. Does that help?
I fixed the parse error by editing line 100 (the line above the error)
<?h3>, I changed it to </problem-with-post-edit-button3>
in spimport-setup.php
I’m rather bewildered as to why it found no users. Hmm. I will try it again on my clone and see what happens. There’s definitely users in wp_users — 3,200 of them 🙂
Thanks for the fix to the typo. Curious I was getting no errors reported.
Are you using the right table prefix? Is the users table in a different database?
Can you please send me the importer code also. Will test and provide feedback. Thanks in advance.
Teddyg2453, will have to let Andy send you the importer… not sure svn is up to date since he has been tweaking it with tyskkvinna… hopefully, he is not gone for the night yet…
teddyg2453: Just sent you the latest copy via email.
tyskkvinna: I will send you todays code cut in a minute but I am unsure why you should be having any trouble with the users. If the latest code still does not import them is there any chance of having a copy of the bbPress and users/usermeta tables so that I can test run with your data?
I am also going to be looking to import from either bbpress to Simplepress or from phpbb to simplepress. (I just migrated phpbb to bbpress this afternoon, so I still have both.) They are both in the same database, but separate from my WP install (I installed WP and phpbb via fantastico. I know, I'm lazy….) So I'm wondering if this will work for my situation? Can I get the migrator and test it out? Do you think I should try migrating my users over from the bbpress to WP as well?
Thanks so much, the importer worked out perfectly! I did have to export the bbpress database and install it in the same database as WP, but that was easy.
Thanks so much, the importer worked out perfectly, minus the users. All the posts are attributed to guest and none of the users were transferred over to the WP database in the user table. I did also have to export the bbpress database and install it in the same database as WP, but that was easy.
Why did you have to import the bbPress db into your local WP db? And if you did that, could you not have bought the users and usermeta tables across as well or was the WP site already up and running?
During the import it only asked for the table prefix after asking for the database info. For some reason it wouldn't recognize that as acceptable until they were all in the same database. I only had 70 users in bb_users, but none of them transferred over to wp_users.
