Hi, On my forum when I am in the ‘Reply’ box I can see ‘Smileys’, ‘Options’ and ‘Attachments’ below it, but users are telling me they can only see ‘Smileys’ and not the other two things. An idea what is going on here? Thanks.

I should imagine that you have not given your users uaergroup(s) permissions to upload…
Hmm, where would I do that? I have searched for a setting to do this, but can’t see a likely one. Thanks.
No problems, found that setting, but when I tick the various upload permissions, and then click ‘Update Permission’ nothing happens, but I get a fragment of a message box at the top of the page, and the setting does not save.
I also just updated to 5.7.5.1 and it has broken the ‘Add reply’ and other buttons. When I purchased this 18 months ago I had trouble with SP with my theme, and fixed it with help from SP support, but now this update has broken it again 🙁
Nothing that I know of.
Can I roll back to the earlier version of SP that was working OK?
hard to say… dont know where you came from… depending on the upgrades, may be some non revertable db changes made…
you can always try it… but of course, out of the box, it wont let you (re the db changes)… so you would have to edit the code and disable the old version check and hope no issues arise…
and btw, the change from 5.7.5 to 5.7.5.1 was only a single change so certainly wouldnt cause this issue… so guessing you came from further back…
Yes, I came from version installed back in march 2016, so not sure what that was. Doesn’t sound like roll back will be simple.
What are my options for getting this up and running again?
Thanks.
First and foremost reset the JS Cache in the Toolbox > housekeeping panel. AND clear your browser cache. If still not right then go through this FAQ: https://simple-press.com/documentation/codex/faq/before-starting-a-support-topic/ – you will be looking for JS errors in the browser console most probably.
This has helped admin side, which is now working as it should. User side buttons still not working, however. Here is console error when pressing ‘Add Reply’:
Thanks for your help with this.
There is at least one other script error beneath which you have not included. What do the other(s) say.
I have absolutely no idea why your sp_platform_vars would not be defined. When you updated the core SP did you also update any SP plugins you may be using?
