I have a forum and use ubbthreads. would like to update and use something like simplepress which offers way more, and is WP based.
My question…can I bring my posts/threads over from my current forum?
If so, can I pay to get help? Maybe create a dev site to work on it until all glitches are smoothed out…

We don’t have an importer for this platform sadly but for what I believe is a reasonable fee there is a service called gConverter (http://gconverters.com/) that claim they can move your data from ubbthreads to Simple:Press. We are not affiliated in any ay with gConverter but we have always heard good things about their service so it might be worth you talking to them.
What about a hosting service? Is their a place well suited for WordPress and simplepress…and wishlist….? i am currently using hostgator. Does it matter who i use? i would like fastest speed and optimum usability
No problem. As for hosting the rule of thumb is that you really get what you pay for – cheap hosting, expect a slower service. There is so much choice out there It’s not something I can personally advise on, but possibly other members who have large forums might have a few suggestions.
