Support Forum
Hey all,
So I've been talking for over a year now about offering a separate writers' forum linked to the site I mod. There's a lot of interest in participation, but I'm intimidated by all the work... especially because interested people say they'll help, and then, well, you never know how much help you'll actually end up getting. What I want to do is to try a "test forum" version connected to one of my WP blogs. It really would be set up just to explore the entire idea of this forum on SP and to see if I can actually start this thing up and keep it running (again, who knows how much help I'll actually get... maybe a lot, but maybe not so much.)
If this works out, then what I was thinking is that I'd reinstall SP on the WP blog that is actually connected to the site itself (not the same blog as the first one.) It should be a fresh install... the test forum would only have existed as a learning tool and example. The question is... can this be done? Thanks for all advice!
Yes of course. You can install Simple:Press on as many websites as you like - there is no charge involved for using it!

Thanks so much! Okay, just ONE more question... I don't think that anything would carry over from the test forum to the "real" one, but just in case it did.. for instance, if some users tried the beta version and we started a thread that I decided it would be nice to be able to continue... can that be done? Can material from one SP forum be "transferred" to another? Thanks.

beta version? you mean your test site? as long as you move the wp user data, the forum can move... but any posts you have are tied to specific wp users, so they would have to go and stay the same user id if the posts are to be tied to them... if the destination site is new (from wp perspective) that shouldnt be a problem...

Thanks for all the great info! I think I'm almost ready to get a membership and then try this thing... And btw, this might sound strange, but thanks for having a readable and doable captcha. So many of them are just nightmares, with audio versions that are just as bad. The little things can make a big difference.
Thank you. If you look at our 'About' popup (in the forum footer) you will see that the captcha is actually based upon what is, I believe, a plugin available for WP comments and available here: Web Design Beach
At least - I think it is available for WP...
