Future emigrant from VB to SimplePress…what do I need to know?

 I’m trying to find all of the known unknowns but what unknown unknowns are out there that I should be aware of?

We almost went to bbPress but bbPress doesn’t support attachments in user posts so that would have been a huge problem as we are very attachment dependent.

What else would a vBulletin user expect to have that isn’t there for SimplePress users?

Are Groups supported that can be created and managed by the site members?

 

edit:  it appears users can’t edit threat titles but can the Admin do that?

Hey Bart,

technically speaking it is all down to permissions. You can create your own permission sets (see forum > permissions – from the admin panel) and you can assign these permission sets to individual forums for different usergroups (see forum > manage groups and forums > permissions tab)

Might be worth having a read on permissions in the Codex, should give you the information you need!

As for groups being managed and created by members, technically I don’t think there is a way for members to ‘create’ entire groups, but again – permissions could help you with ‘managing’
