Question #1: I have been a SP user for about 10 years. I had purchased the Reboot theme and several plugins. When SP changed ownership and went to version 6, with your online help instructions I managed to convert everything to version 6. Reboot and the plugins were working, however I could not find a way to locate registration keys for them.
As a result, neither the Reboot theme nor the plugins are updating to newer versions. They are frozen in the version that I got when I originally went to SP version 6.
Is there a way to get them to update?
Question #2: I have always had a problem with users registering. Since this happens via the wordpress registration process, many times users try to login from the wordpress login page which doesn't work. The login only works when they do so using the actual forum page login link.
As a result many users have problems with the login. Is there a way to make the login more fail-safe? Do you have a dedicated forum registration plugin that bypasses the wordpress registration and login pages? Or do you know of a third-party solution that could accomplish this?
I am considering buying one of your packages if this can help me to resolve these issues.
Hello:
We can see the purchase of the Reboot theme in 2016. You should be able to log into your account on our site and go to the purchase history page (https://simple-press.com/accou.....e_history/). There you should see a link to VIEW LICENSES.
If you made your purchases for the plugins prior to July 2015, we do not have a record of them. We would need a copy of your receipt in order to restore those for you. Just shoot us a copy of that to support@simple-press(dot com) and we can get those restored for you.
For Question #2, there are a quite a few WordPress plugins that cleans up the registration process including our own Member Manager. But, they might all be overkill since many includes a huge basket of features. If all you want to do is stop users from using the WordPress login page to login, you might be able to do that with just a simple plugin that changes the url for the WordPress login page so the user doesn't go directly to it.
Thanks.
Thank you for this information. I went to my account site and got the Reboot activation key, added my site in there, went to my forum admin, and activated the license.
Now there is a notification that there is an update to version 2.3 available, but I cannot find any place where I can click on to perform the update - not in the notification area and also not in the 'Themes-Available Themes' area. Where do I update the Reboot theme?
Updates are done from the standard WordPress updates screen. Any Simple:Press Forum updates will be seen below the WordPress Plugins and Themes.
Apparently I had purchased the plugins prior to 2015. And I cannot find the receipts anymore. Can I keep using the version that I have, or can that break something? Am I okay using the plugins, or would I need to repurchase them in order to keep the forum functioning correctly?
Hi:
What version is your Simple:Press Forums core plugin?
If you're on version 5.x then you can keep using that with older plugins. There is no guarantee that a future version of WordPress, PHP or your web server sn't going to break something.
