agree. those hot topics are nice.  what was the alogrithm again?  well, keep it in mind for a plugin… might be nice to have the algo customizable on an option page.

It's powered by the code from the original SP template tag ” sf_hot_topics() “, but displayed like the SP quicklinks dropdown. I used the same algorithm for proof of concept and then got distracted with other things so didn't actually finish it yet. But I have to say, the code is efficient and the results are pretty darn good. Then again, I don't claim to be a mathematician.

After seeing the results fetched by “hot topics” I think that its algorithm is very good and there is no need to “reinvent the wheel”.
