was it working with the views and types plugins running? – plugin seems convoluted way of dong what you are, but that is unimportant

It was working with all of the plugins, including Types and Views.

I found no reference to “mod_” in the results of phpinfo.  If it’s important, I can put in a support ticket with the hosting provider to find out.

might be worth asking your host why the server is generating the initial 302 response??

not sure the .htaccess stuf is right for the pathinfo urls you are forced to use… but not sure…

Would it help you to have FTP access?  I can PM login info if so.

Also, feel free to disable any of the plugins that you want for troubleshooting.  I need to get this resolved so the forums are working again.

seems to work with default permalinks…  is this IIS?

interesting too… your .htaccess file is not writable… so any changes, like setting permalinks, wont stick…

The quick fix was to use the default permalinks. After changing to it your forum and everything is now showing up fine. So it’s back online now. So can either leave like it is or change it back to debug. 

have you recently add the unit custom post type?

I’ve just noticed that I no longer have write access to /users2/data/t/tutorsystems.com-39577/public_html/dev/wp-content/uploads.  I did have access previously, but now even an FTP of a test file fails:

Error:    /users2/data/t/tutorsystems.com-39577/public_html/dev/wp-content/uploads/formidable/test.txt: open for write: permission denied

Could insufficient write permissions in some directory or temp file account for the forum 404?

Not sure what would have changed write permissions, but seems something did.

No, Suffusion custom post types has been there for a good while with everything working fine.

The problem with changing the permalink to default is that it breaks old permalinks.

Is there a good method to reset permissions to what is correct for WordPress and SimplePress?

I’d like to try that to see if it may have been the issue all along.

Ah, yes, Unix it is.

Digging into permissions, I have my WordPress installation in the directory /dev.  When the forum 404 issue arose, I created a new FTP user account with access to dev as the top level.  This may have compounded the problem, as I see now that the owner for everything under dev is now wpadmin instead of tutorsys.  I didn’t explicitly make that change, but it seems the host’s account creation process does that.

I notice that the owner / group for everything above the /dev directory is tutorsys tutorsys.
However, the owner /group for everything below /dev is wpadmin tutorsys.

Also, permissions are 644 for a lot of the files below /dev and 755 for the directories. Might this be a problem?

Until the wpadmin account was created, everything was tutorsys tutorsys.
