5.0.0 Build 7032 Available through WP Updater (Sept 9, 2011)

If you are running simple press 5.0.0 alpha, today you should an update available if you are running a version older than build 7032… If you regularly update through SVN you may never see this update in the WP dashboards updates section or on the WP plugins page…

If you are running on your server or local machine directly out of SVN, do not update to via the WP updater.

If you are running by FTP’ing SVN checked out or exported versions, you can use the updater…

If you are running by using the nightly builds, you can also use the updater…

The updater is working except for one little niggle we havnet been able to solve… If you update from the wp plugins page, the updater leaves the plugin deactivated – simple reactivate… If you update from the dashboard updates, there is no such issue…

If you do use the WP updater, please let us know how it goes for you…  We will occasionally push updates out through the updater in order to continually test and to make updates simple for users… but the fastest way to get updates is through SVN… the nightlies are the second fastest… and the wp updater will be the slowest since we dont want to be constantly taking the step of creating a build for release…

The update went smooth. Updated from the dashboard where all updates are viewed. After the update i had to click “update simple press” in forum admin area.

Do you guys have a changelog for every update?

I’m not sure if this is only me, but non-logged in users cannot see and forum groups. If logged in, everything works fine.

Ideas? Thanks.

caponx, we have change logs for every formal release…  but not for the myriad of activity going on with the alpha stuff…

as always, you can follow along on our bug tracker (http://mantis.simple-press.com) or you can view each commit on our websvn site (http://websvn.simple-press.com)

celticpride, are you sure you have permissions set up for guests to be able to view the forums?  our wiki, the getting started section covers permissions and usergroups and shows example of how to set it up for guest access.. it is working fine here… for forums we let guests see anyways…

Hi. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction – something must have gotten changed by accident in the permissions section of the forum admin area. All “Read Only” permissions were turned off.

Also, I think I might have found a typo: “poss” should be “post”, right? Screen-Shot-2011-09-10-at-3.16.21-PM.png
