Added HTTPS to my forum URL and now I cannot edit posts

Hi there,

I’m running your latest software on my site, forum.radicards.com and have run into an issue.

I just added https to my website url and now I cannot edit published posts.
I’ve deactivated all plugins except Simple:Press and still the issue persists.

Can you help me understand how we can fix this?

Can you supply some more detail please? How have you switched to SSL exactly? And – in what way are you unable to edit posts? What does or does not happen?

I added an SSL Certificate to the domain. Then I revised the .htaccess file to force https on all pages. Then I installed a WordPress plugin called, WordPress HTTPS.

When I go to edit a post, I click the Edit button and the page refreshes to the same page without the Edit window. It acts just like the Submit Reply button.

I’m happy to provide login credentials via pm.

you dont just add a certificate to wp for ssl… you also have to configure wp for ssl…

I see now you have edited your previous post 🙂

go to forum – integration – page and permalink and make sure the permalink is updated…  and shows https in the url…

I checked this and it’s currently set to the standard http arrangement:

http://www.forum.radicards.com/forum

How can we change it to reflect https?

have you tried using the update permalink button which is displayed on that admin panel?

Yes. I have tried the “Update Forum Permalink” option and it didn’t change anything. It’s still http://www.forum.radicards.com/forum.

and on wp – settings – general admin page, do both the wordpress and site url have https in them?

not sure what you are saying… if I go to

https://www.forum.radicards.com/forum

everything is in https…  which contradicts what  you are saying…

Not currently, no. Both are set to http://www.forum.radicards.com.

are they greyed out?  that is, uneditable… those have to be set differently, but possible being done another way…

and my posts 11 and 12??

Ok, I’m sorry for not being clear here. Let me clarify:

Settings>General: Both site and wp url aren’t grayed out so these two items can be changed.

I’ve reset both combined css cache, and combined js cache but that didn’t fix the issue.

The site currently loads https on all pages. My issue is that when I go to edit a published post, I cannot do so. It simply just reloads the page.
