First off check your SP status by going to the forum admin > Admins > Manage Admins and ensure you’re set up as an SP Admin. You should be.

Assuming that checks out then you probably just need to wait until the stats are updated which, by default, is about once every hour.

If the time passes and still nothing appears then it could just be that your WordPress ‘cron’ system has stalled and we can deal with that later if needed.

I think I am, but because I’m new to this, I’m not 100% sure. There is a lock next to ‘Manage Admins’ as per screen. Is this right if you’re an admin?

Yes – as it says n the title of the box – ‘Admon: Super Admin’. So things are as they should be. So – has nothing appeared after an hour or so?

No change yet and this is the second install I’ve done on a different server and I had the same thing on my other site as well and it’s still like that unfortunately

Well while it is possible it is a conflict with something else let’s try the WP cron route first as many people do have issues with WP cron.

Go to the forum admin > Toolbox > Cron Inspector.

In the ‘Run Cron’ box at the bottom of the form, in the ‘Hook to Run’ enter sph_stats_cron excactly as shown and then click on the Update Cron button.

See if that shifts things at all> If  not then we will need to look at the error log starting with the forum admin > Toolbox > Error log. Any actual errors showing up?

Well – possibly not actually solved. You have just run manually what should be run automatically so it may not continue to update. As I say – problems with WP cron are fairly common. Sometimes it just seems to stop working for no apparent reason.

Keep an eye on it. If things do not update in the stats (number of posts, top posters, new members etc) then come on back and we can try and fix it up. As I say – default is every hour (uou can change that in the forum options).

Ok, thanks, will do. I’ll add a new user tonight and set them to Admin and see if it updates. If not, I’ll be back to bug you again tonight

Sorry, I haven’t been able to get to this until tonight. I added another topic and none of the info is updating. All is still the same. Everything says 0 except for how many Admins there are. 0 posts, 0 members even though there are 2.

Then it sounds likely that your WP cron is possibly at fault. An easy way to test this is to write a blog post but set it to be published in the future by, say, 5 minutes and then wait and see if it gets published. If it does not your cron is broken.

If its does get published it might just be that the SP cron tasks have failed to be scheduled. The easiest way to correct this is to deactivate the Simple:Press plugin (NOT Unintsall – just deactivate) and then immediately reactivate it again. That will usually re-start the cron tasks again unless it is broken in WP already.

Yep, seems the WP Cron is broken. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I’ve installed WP Cron Control and WP Crontrol and nothing has changed

Update: If it helps I get this error coming up when checking the Crontrol via WP:

There was a problem spawning a call to the WP-Cron system on your site. This means WP-Cron jobs on your site may not work. The problem was: Failure when receiving data from the peer

I’ve contacted my hosting company to see if there is anything there side of things and I’ve added:

define('ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true); 

to my wp-config.php file to override anything that might be set on my server, but I’m still receiving that error.

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

you will have to consult the wordpress.org support forums for help with the wp cron – unfortunately, you wont be alone… more than a couple topics on it…

if you want, you can force the stats to be run on every page load…  in you spHead.php template file of your sp theme you are using, you can add this near the top

do_action(‘sph_stats_cron’);

of course, running the stats on every page load will take more resources than the way we cache it, but it will get it populated and shoudnt be a big load on your server…

Thanks Mr Papa! Great advice. I do want to fix it site wide as my posts are missing their schedule as well, so I’ll be trawling the wordpress.org forums for a solution and have also asked my hosting if there is anything they can do their end. Fingers crossed it will be fixed shortly
