Animated smileys broken

Whenever our readers click on one of the animated GIF Smileys we provide, it posts and works just fine as you are editing it – but when you publish the post, it’s broken into its component images.

You can see it in the post I just linked to.  Please help.

No – I don’t think that’s the issue. I believe this is just another manifestation of the problem you raised yesterday. So taking this particular smiley as an example – what is the code – actually what are the entries for this in the admin panel?

Sorry, I never got a notification of yesterday’s reply.  Is there a link to it?

You can easily try this yourself.  Register on our site, make a port.  Click on one of the animated smileys.  It loads into the pst editing screen perfectly, in animated form and working.  As soon as you publish the post it is broken as you can see.

What admin setting may I help you with?

Well I can see the result so not much point in doing it.

The real question is what is different about your environment to everyone else’s where this does not happen. What I was asking for was the entry for this smiley on the smiley’s admin page. This is what I was asking for on yesterdays post as well.

Ok, I am happy to give you admin access if you want to email me directly.  Otherwise, if I am understanding your question, I have attached one of the GIF’s103.gif

Let me know if that’s what you wanted.

At the moment I am just asking what the actual entry is for one of the ‘problem’ smileys. Forum admin > components > smileys – locate the smiley entry and tell me the filen-ame, name and code you have assigned.

perhaps access t your admin might not be a bad idea. If this is acceptable then pldease create sn SP Admin Account and then please…

  • PM credentials to both myself and to ‘Mr Papa’.
  • Please include in the PM a link to your site
  • Include a link to this thread and …
  • … a brief reminder of the problem.

And one of us will take a look for you to see if we can see anything obvious.

Yup, only animated GIFs.  I’ll create a user name and password and PM you.

Ah… I didn’t get that it was ONLY animated GIFs. That suggests different issues to the one I was thinking of. I’ll come over and take a look.

OK – I CAN replicate this and will open a bug report on it. Not sure why we have a problem and amazed it has not come up before unless it is in some way related to the new WordPress editor version. We will have to see.

What is weirder though is that I can stop it happening although not – I am afraid – on existing posts. Only new ones.

If you go into the forum admin > components > smileys and locate each smiley and place a colon at the start and end of each ‘code’ then it seems to be happy. I would be grateful if you could try that and meanwhile, as I say, I will open up a report to get this investigated.

Never mind.  Broken almost immediately.
