I tried to edit a topic title, something that I have done countless times before without any problem. However now it doesn't work anymore. I edited and saved the topic title 4 times, and every time it reverts to the previous, unedited version. What could cause this?

Which version of SP are you using? Are you up to date?

Version 5.7.5.2 which is the latest that shows up for me.

That's good.

Can we start with the error log (in the toolbox admin menu section). Clear it out please using the button at the bottom. Then try and edit a topic title. Save as you would. Then go refresh the error log to see if anything is reported. Interested in actual errors or SQL/Database entries - the pink ones.

I use the forum tool set's "edit topic title" function. I have done this for many years, but just now it stopped working.

Not sure what you mean when you asked if I posted the entire message...

Hmm, strange, I see the message and the image at my end. Here is what is in the message in response to Yellow Swordfish's error log post:

OK - so no straight php errors. Next stop is to see if the JavaScript and AJAX are throwing up any errors. You can check for these in your browser console. This How To FAQ has a basic explanation of using the console if you have not used it before. Errors most usually show up in red (although I have not used all browsers to check that). But the same routine applies. Load page, clear console, perform rename attempt etc., and see if the console reports an error. Again - just have the errors turned on.
