Can't access options after adding an admin

Hi guys,

I’ve just added an admin to SP with all permissions checked.
Logged out as original admin and back in as ‘new’ admin and now I can’t access any of the forum options in the admin area, whichever admin user I’m logged in as.

Just to be clear… within WP-Admin, I can see and select the main Forum options in the left hand menu, but when I select one of the sub-options, eg Create New Group, The admin just sits there spinning around.

I can access the options for other plugins with no issue

Is there a ‘hard reset’ or something that I can try too get this back running?

Cheers
DD

ps, can't seem to be able to upload an image here to help you out

The easiest and safest thing to do is to restore your database from your last backup. Most hosts usually take a database backup for you once every 24 hours. But if too much time has passed between your last backup and this admin change then the next best thing might be to take a look at your database via PHPAdmin.

So, if you have access to PHPAdmin, pull up a table called xxxxx_sfmembers and take a look at the data in there (xxxx is the wordpress table prefix and can be different in each install of WordPress - but it defaults to 'wp').

If you browse the table in PHPAdmin, you should see a column labelled "admin". Click the header twice to sort that column in descending order. All your admins should appear at the top with a "1" in that column. Do you see any such admins in your table?

Thanks.

PS: What happens when you try to load an image to this thread? Do you get an error message?

A - I just don't see the option to upload an image anymore. From memory, there used to be that option at the bottom of the dialogue box.

(I'll pop into MyPhp and get back to you on your other response. Thanks)

OK, rolling back the database is not really an option as we don't have that running (it's a development site)

I've checked the PHPAdmin, both users that I have as SP-admins have a '1' in the Admin column.

Within the site, I can access the admin CP, all options for all plugins except SP

(ps, attachment option showing in this dialogue, so attach screenshot of SPAdmin that I can see)

Three things to try - all are longshots but simple enough:

1. Try using your CTRL-F5 key combination on the page.  That should force the CSS and JS cache to refresh.

2. Try accessing the page with a different browser to see if that gives you access.

3. Check your browser console to see if any javascript errors are being thrown.

If none of those work, lets try doing this:

1. Backup the site.

2. Disable all plugins other than Simple:Press and switch the theme to the basic WP 2015/16/17 theme.  This is a bigger PITA that the first three options and also a long shot.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I had two browsers running - chrome and FF, one admin logged into each intermittently and both had the same problem, strangely after adding an admin, but in hindsight, that may have been a red-herring...
The refresh options didn't work, so I just logged into a Chrome incognito window and that's working fine, with both admins.

Thanks for the super fast support. All back working here now and happy with that.

Cool.  Glad you're back up and running.

Good luck with your project.  Let us know how it turns out!
