Can't click on topics in IE10 after recent update

I updated SP and all plugins/themes on my dev site for testing. After doing so I am unable to click on any topic headers in IE10 (basically I can’t navigate the forums at all). The attached pic shows what I am talking about, my mouse was approximately around the red dot when I took the screen shot. That tooltip is covering the mouse so I am unable to click anything. Posting to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

TIA

there is no known issue with IE 10… I routinely test with it…

did you try it here?

also try clearing your browser cache since we did update some js…

do you have a link?

Link and login info sent in PM. Thanks for the response.

Edit: also yes, I cleared my cache, did not help. I’m not having the same issue here so maybe it’s my theme or a plugin interfering.

yes, likely one of those…  easy to check by quick temp switch to the default wp theme…  will confirm or rule out the wp theme…

also, check out:  http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/faq/troubleshooting/what-is-this-jquery-conflict/

heading off to work this AM so will be tonight before I have a chance to look…

Thanks, I have tried switching to the default theme and disabling plugins one by one, still no luck. Some info about my setup:

Theme: http://www.solostream.com/wordpress-themes/wp-attract/

jQuery: 1.8.3

jQueryUI: 1.9.2

Plugins:

  • Akismet
  • Auto ThickBox Plus
  • SP (of course) :)
    • Admin Bar
    • Blog post linking
    • Mentions
    • Subscriptions
  • Ultimate Maintenance Mode
  • WordPress SEO
  • WP-Members
  • WP-Polls
  • WP-Syntax

I will do more testing today. I will also do a restore and try the upgrade again, maybe something just went wrong with the update; although since it’s only an issue with a single browser I would think everything went fine.

Thanks again for your help.

Looks like maybe there is a conflict with the WP admin bar.

On my live site I have it disabled for non-Admins (example), I don’t do that on my dev site but decided to try it since it’s one of the few differences. When I disabled the bar and logged in as a regular user I no longer had the problem.

I’ll look in to it more tonight and update.

that would be odd… I know of many sites, and have couple myself, that use the wp admin bar with simple press with no issue…

perhaps you have a plugin that adds something to the wp admin bar?

and interestingly enough your theme or other is forcing a x-ua-compatible tag of IE=edge… so its forcing highest version of IE…  but other places it checks for lower versions of IE… so wonder if something else not quite IE 10 compatible?

Hmm, I’m not sure what it could be. I have tested with the default theme and no plugins enabled. I’ve only made a couple of minor changes to the base WP files, but that was a while ago.

Thanks again for your help. I’ll keep looking into it as I have time. Hopefully someone else will respond if they’re having similar issues.

I will try to run through some sites tomorrow with IE 10 and the wp admin bar too… wp still doesnt officially support IE 10 since its not formally released for win 7 yet, so guess there could be something there, but have not seen or heard of something like that…

I had a member just report that it’s not working for them at all in IE10. They can’t click on anything. They have tried multiple machines, all running Windows 8. Is the machine you’re testing IE10 on running Windows 8? It works fine on the same machines with Firefox.

Yes, I tested on IE10 on Win8. IE10 for Win7 was just released not long ago, and it isn’t pushed with Windows Update yet, not many win7 users will be using it yet.

Can you post what themes/plugins you’re using? Any overlapping ones we’re using might help us narrow it down.

Also, was this member logged in when they reported the issue? Meaning do they see the WordPress admin bar when trying to use the forum? I don’t have the issue when the admin bar is not displayed.

My testing has been on Win 7 and IE 10.. and IE 9 and IE 8…  no access to a Win 8 box…

Thanks Nathan…

Hey guys, just wondering if there has been any progress on this fix yet. I’ve had two members experience the same problem. Both using Windows 8 and IE10. My solution for them is to just use Firefox but I’d like to see a fix for this.
