Hi,

It looks as if everything is correctly configures in the plugin for wordpress.

However, nobody gets notification (not event moderators) when a new topic or a response to it is made available in the forum.

Are you aware of any conflict with WordPress 4.0.1 ?  or with any plugin?

Can you share your support for setting up email notifications to ALL users by the Administrator and email notifications to the users involved in the discussion?

Thank you

Best regards

Silvia

There are three sides to this question:

Admins and Moderators: Email notifications of new posts are available and can be turned on in the forum admin > Admins > Your Admin Options. Note this is an individual admin panel and each admin or moderator would need to visit it unless you specify yourself that changes are to be made to all admins and moderators.

Your Users: You would need to add the ‘Subscriptions’ plugin (https://simple-press.com/downloads/subscriptions-plugin/) which will enable a variety of options including forum level and topic level email subscriptions, visual notifications etc.

Emails: Some WordPress users (and this is a notorious WP issue) do have problems with sending out emails. There are nearly always simple and quick solutions to this but if you do encounter probplems come back and we can advise.

Dear Yellow Swordfish,

Thank you for your reply.   With ref to Admins and Moderators, I did turn these options for Admins.  I have also turned on “Grant all moderators the same option settings as above”.  However, when I click  Save  the latter option turns off again.

In any case,  none of the Administrators are currently receiving notifications when replies to a discussion are posted, even if the options to receive messages when new messages are posted are clearly set to ON.  Is it a bug, maybe?

The option resets itself because it has been carried out and you may want to change the other settings in the future.

And – as I said above – sending out emails is a notorious problem for WordPress that effects many users.

First – go to the forum admin > options > email settings and make sure those settings have been created correctly. Correct if necessary.

If they were already correct ot correcting them did not do the trick then we would recommend a plugin called ‘HGK SMTP‘ available from the WP plugin repository. Set this up and in the vast majority of cases this will resolve the email sending problems. We do, in fact, use it here as we have the same problem with WordPress email.

By the way – I meant to mention. The requirements of the most recent Simple:Press are that you are using WordPress version 4.2.x – there may well be some problems you might experience due to this version incompatibility.
