changing location forum

This was my idea when using WPML:

When doing a forum for English speaking participants I change the Forum location from …

www.mysite.nl/forum/ to www.mysite.nl/en/forum

And then (I hoped) the language of the Forum will automatically be in English and I make some help and about pages in the English /en/ section, and a menu,  and I am ready to go. However when using the settings in Integration it seems SP is not willing to move from www.mysite.nl/forum/ to www.mysite.nl/en/forum. Nothing is changing and the setting stay the same.

Sorry – but as we keep repeating – Simple:Press utilises a single WordPress ‘page’ and, as such, has a single URL.

Of course, I understand,  however I want to be able change the URL based on the requirements of a particular project (if possible).

As said above, it’s not possible unfortunately. The only way you could have forums running different languages as standard would be on different WordPress installs, which of course would mean 2 different forums with different content.

Actually – sorry Ike – that’s not quite true.

You CAN change the url. As we said – SP runs on a standard WP page. if youy want it to run on a sub-page then simply create a sub-page (or child-page) and then reset the page being used and update the forum permalink.

@Yellow Swordfish, as mentioned in the first post that is just what I did and had no result. Nothing changed.

Yes i- it should work as per this FAQ: http://simple-press.dev/documentation/codex/faq/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to-make-your-forum-display-on-a-sub-page/

We do need to update this FAQ I see. You need to change the page at the top selection list and then UPDATE the panel with the button at the bottom and THEN update the permalink in the middle of the forum…

Finally succeeded!:

NL language: www.mysite.nl/forum/   changed to ….

UK language: www.mysite.nl/en/forum/ does not work

HOWEVER:

UK language: www.mysite.nl/en/forumuk/ does work!

And what is great as well … all the …/en/ theme pages are in English automatically and so is the SP interface.

Well how about that. You learn something new every day, and so did I!

Haha funny, well I had the idea you knew everything about SP and its behaviour! Anyway, I can switch language now per project (if necessary).
