I just noticed that the richt text editor is no longer available under Profile > Edit Signature. It was still there about two weeks ago when I recorded a screencast to explain forum profile options to our users (it's in the video). I checked my profile here on the Simple:Press forum and the editor is missing as well. Is this intended?

Actually you have got me there. WordPress 3.9 finally dumped the old tinyMCE editor for the newer version 4 and as Simple:Press utilises the same code we have also, of course, upgraded in our 5.4.2 and tinyMCE plugin to adopt that as well.

This falls into Mr Papa's area of expertise so I will need him for a definitive response but I can only assume that V4 tinyMCE didn't play well being called via Ajax in the profile signatures. We will have to see what he says about it...

two weeks ago???  what version were you running?  I seem to remember we had removed it from the profile signature a couple of our versions ago because it was having too many problems and not working right for a lot of folks...  nothing explicitly related to v4 that I can remember...

actually question about this, when I try to upload a pic in the signature, it generates a pop up that says tinymce not defined, I don't see any editor at all on my site or here

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I followed the advice in this thread, but the issue persists. I'll be keeping an eye on this topic!

will have to run some tests...  but on business travel this week so only forum checking at night...  maybe something was broken or still thinks tinymce is there...

I always run the latest version, so whatever that was two weeks ago.

Removing the editor seems counter productive. Most of our users are fairly inexperienced so they need a visual editor to create their links and add images. Without TinyMCE we might as well disable signatures altogether.

We are investigating. Might take a while I am afraid,

only if it was working for you... 😉  as nightmarish as it was to get working and keep it working, only to have it continually breaking for users (not all of course) was not really productive...  hate spending time supporting something broken that may not get working...

that said, as Andy said, we will investigate if we can come up with it working for all again... but will take time - not an easy task unfortunately...

Any update on this issue?  I'm experiencing the same thing as well.
