and yes, I found the sfmembers table but no, there are no other users than the current active ones…

I do not understand ‘there was an option to send any subscription email also to me as admin’.
I am not aware of any such option….
I am not aware either, that’s why I asked 😀
I think I need to explain better what I saw. Let’s say I am user “admin” and I have member “goofy”.
Admin is not subcribed to any topic or forum or other.
Admin creates a new topic.
Admin receives an emai that notify that a new post has been created in the forum. In the email the From is the forum itself, the To is the email of member “goofy”
So I was wondering if there’s somewhere an option that configures an automatic forward of all outgoing emails to the admin…
It sounds top me like Goofy is using your email address. Possible?
Go to Goofy’s popup forum profile. As the forum admin it will show the email address that is assigned to Goofy so you can check it out.
I just found some more options in the Subscriptions plugin. I have a tick on the daily digest. Could that be the culprit?
Not knowing what to do anymore I deleted all subscription (a checkbox to select them all and apply delete for all would be nice). Tomorrow I ask one member to add a subscription and we’ll see if I receive more emails.
rather than add a subscription, first have some folks other than you post… see if you get emails then… rule that out first (since we couldnt see the actual email)… then second, can check other potential sources…
I can do that Mr Papa but the emails I received were answers to a topic I started, not email that a new topic had been started. But I will do that first, thanks!
Another thought: could the plugin Postman SMTP be responsible somehow? I cannot see how but maybe you do…
Did you ever check my question at post #19 above?
As to the SMTP plugin – the email has to be sent out for it to encounter that so no – no fault there.
Andy sorry I missed to read the post n.19 but I had already checked that and no, she has her own email. In fact the email I receive has in the To field, her email address!
In any case, I asked her to subscribe again to the topic then I wrote a reply and I get another email. So the problem is still there…
Shall I procede to update WP, so I can also update SP plugin and all the other plugins with it? Then we see if it’s still happening.? Or can you suggest more things to do? I have run out of ideas…
Ah – that’s different. In effect you seem to be saying that you are getting sent an email that was destined for someone else. If you are NOT in the ‘To’ list then that opens up other causes and one of them might just be the SMTP plugin. Or something to do with the mail handling on your server.
Does Goofy get the subscription email as well as you? Is she in the message headers as a recipient?
Are Goofy’s subscription emails the ONLY ones you get a copy of? If just hers then it still looks to me like a specific problem with her email address. If you get everybody’s then it would suggest a problem with your email setup.
However – I am really not an email expert and it does sound like they are being created and sent from SP properly.
Check the settings for the Postman SMTP plugin. I have never used it but I hear good things. We use a different one here.
And personally I see no point in replacing any components. Removing and re-uploading is really only useful for a code bug or corruption and that doesn’t sound a very likely thing here.
Good news: problem found!
Bad news (for me): I feel soooo stupid! Can you ever forgive me for wasting your time? I use a mail client which I just discovered is also showing to me all the content of the outbox on the mail server… 🙁 So those are all the email messages sent to the user that subscribed… doh. I do feel stupid, sorry…
