My server has failed to replicate the problem (i.e. they got it to work no problem, using my login) so it must be something local, probably in my laptop or browser.  I will keep you posted.

Different browser gets same result although test posts sent earlier turned up an hour later.

Might leave this till morning. 

OK – we will be here. But a 403 is your server denying access to something. If it persists need to find put just what! It should make an entry in your server logs with more information.

As far as I’m aware, notices are harmless and won’t affect functionality. They are most likely nothing to do with the issue, but I’m sure Andy or Steve will chime in if there is anything untoward in there.

This was the only actual Warning notice, from early this morning, but I don’t think it has anything to do with this issue:

The only thing I notice that is strange about that directory is the name ‘simple-forum’.

In fact, looking more into it is that path set as the default path in storage locations?

Check in Forum > Integration > Storage Locations

Simple-Forum goes back to version 4, and no trace of that directory structure should exist I don’t think.

This is what I have:

Custom Icons Folder

wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/custom

This is marked as an error.  What should it be?

In Simple:Press it should be wp-content > sp-resources > forum-custom-icons, and If it doesn’t already exist, create it.

I have tried creating a new folder wp-content/forum-custom-icons.  But it seems to be having trouble registering in the Integration/Storage list.  More later

the folder you created is different than Ike asked for…  does the value entered match the directory you created?

I have amended to the one Ike suiggested but it is taking an age to update in the Integration folder.

By the way, my server help desk sent this:

“It was basically a mod_security rule was triggered and blacklisted. So I whitelisted the rule for you. Please give a try by clearing cache memory of the browser.”

Needless to say, it made no difference.

And storage locations have not updated after five minutes of the spinning wheel.

Is it worth considering a re-load of the software?

so yeah something stopping the ajax from running..  stupid mod security rule makes perfect sense…

did you clear your cache and reload the admin page from the far left menu?  then go back to the integration panel…  depending on browser, might even close the browser and reopen…

I would not waste time uninstalling or removing at this point…
