A member had trouble uploading a pdf and thought it was too big. So I just tried to find out what the max is and haven’t found anything in WP or doing a web search.
How do I find out what the current WP limit is? Or is it really unlimited?
And, since I couldn’t find anything in SP settings, I suppose the WP limit is the SP limit?

WP has no limit defined, Your severs php ini file will set limits – actually set by your hosting company,
But… you set the upload limits yourself in the Simple:Press file uploader admin panel. You will also see displayed there the maximum settings your host has enforced on your server for reference.
