Support Forum
We have installed Simple:Forum and the Subscription plugin on a site for a client. I updated Simple:Press and all the plugins to the newest versions today.
The client would like all members of a specific Forum to receive an email whenever someone posts to that Forum. I have changed all the members so they are subscribed to the specific Forum, however Simple:Press does not send an email when there is a new topic or reply added to the Forum.
Am I just off on what the subscription plugin does? There is no email when there is a new Topic created or when there is a reply in a Topic. Why is this not working?
I appreciate any help. Thank you.
Yes - if a user is subscribed to a topic or a forum then they will receive emails on new posts/topics respectively.
Assuming that a member is subscribed - and it would be useful to know how you did this yourself for all members - then if emails are not being sent the problem is likely to be in the email mechanics.
Now WordPress can be notoriously problematic when it comes to sending out emails so the first thing to do is check the settings. Each member has their own email that will be used but the sending of emails when SP is involved can be set on the forum admin > Options > Email panel. Make sure this is all set to the correct values.
If all looks correct and emails are still not flowing out then come on back and we can recommend a plugin to try.

Thanks for the quick response.
I added everyone via sql directly in the database.
You are correct, it appears that it is a server/email issue. The emails are being sent but dying in the queue because of the sudden volume. I am smacking myself for not thinking of it before.
Thanks.
exactly the reason why we hesitated and delayed for some time before adding forum subscriptions... can be a serious load to your server if you have a busy forum... but we relented due to number of requests...
let us know how you make out...
