Guests can't register (build 7705)

Hi

When guests try to register, they receive this error…

403 Permission Denied

You do not have permission for this request /wp-login.php?action=register&redirect_to=http://scotchpotch.com/ebook/

Registration was working yesterday, so I’m assuming it’s something to do with the new build, although I can’t see the changes on the WebSVN webpage for 7705

UPDATE: deactivated Policy Documents again and guests can now register. Policy Documents was updated with build 7705

Interesting. Can you tell me what the settings were for the policy plugin? It would be the only way we could replicate any issue.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I reactivated Policy Documents again and got the same error as above.

Here are the settings…..

Show registration policy on registration form: CHECKED
Force policy acceptance on registration (checkbox): UNCHECKED

I cannot duplicate this behaviour…  registration working fine with or without policy docs plugin… using your settings and a redirect too…

what is the redirect you are using for registration? on forum – components – login and registration??  is the user who registered have permission to see that page???  remember they are not logged in…

Hi

The redirect is the forum homepage. This worked fine on Policy Documents until I upgraded to build 7705. If I switch off Policy Documents registration runs fine.

Logged out and on a trial run switched off Poliicy Documents, I registered a new email address, the registration page came up, sent a password to my test address and then took me back to the forum homepage, as it should.

The forum is running currently without Policy Documents

Thanks

I understand what you are saying…  but registrations work fine for me with policy docs… cannot duplicate your issue…

the 403 status is saying your server didnt like the url…  it cant get to the wp login page at http://scotchpotch.com/wp-login.php

and no real reason that I can see…  policy doc is just trying to get to your standard wp login page…

no other registration or login plugins?

Resolved the issue.

It was a recently installed WP plugin that caused the problem – Better WP Security.

I deactivated that and activated Policy Documents, everything OK now.

I’ll check what went wrong with the WP plugin later.

Thanks for your time and trouble.
