I disabled all of the plugins as you said (added a 11 to each plugin folder). I got a new error

Ok I figured out how to do the databases and I changed it.. but as soon as I saved it, I got this:

the info you sent me is not for ftp… its for cpanel… I really need the ftp info…

I can’t even activate SP without my website crashing now. I have no idea how to fix this 
what’s changed for that? memory error?
I am unable to connect with those ftp credentials… it cannot resolve your host name… and not sure why… it looks correct… unless the ftp port is just wrong…
I dont know!! Can you just try it through cpanel? I only work through cpanel so i dont know how to give you access to FTP

well, thats what I said… according to cpanel, it looks correct… the only other thing I can think of is that ftp is not running on your server… in which case cpanel wont do me any good – you would need to check with your host and verify ftp is active…
I reset the backup to the entire site. I lost several days of content and thousands of posts between the forum and content c omments.
I upadted all the SP plugins, and then I updated the SP forum and databse to 5.4 10914. It worked.
HOWEVER, now I go to the forum and it’s invisible when logged in. Yes, it is completely invisible when you are logged in as a user. As if there is no forum. If you logout, it appears!
what noW? Why cant it jstu work? i did nothing wrong!!!! I followed the steps.

see it as logged out first, and then log in with the credentials you have in your private inbox.
This is most peculiar. is there something going on with the theme that I do not understand? It’s not just that the forum is not showing up… neither is any of the normal page content. No divs – no anything… Has the theme changed in some way?
