Hi..I want to upgrade to version 5.0 beta . What’s the procedure for it..and is there any flaws in the beta version.I mean is it ok to upgrade now or should i wait for the release of 5.0 .
Support Forum
beta ended back on the 1st of January… 5.0 is in release candidate now…
anyone who tells you there is no flaws in their software is mistaken
but yes as not fully released, a few kinks are being worked out… but we have been running it here for nearly 5 months now…
1 backup db
2 remove simple-forum directory and contents from plugins dir
3 upload new simple-press directory and contents to plugins dir
4 activate the plugin (needed since directory name changed)
5 upgrade the plugins via link in plugins page… or forum menu…
So it’s not necessary to do any importing of data?
I have just installed 4.5.1 and successfully imported my old SMF data. I can just delete the simple-forum folder and install a fresh simple:press 5.0?
I see now. It’s your step 5 that does the conversion. ![]()
Unfortunately, although there were no error messages, it looks like the messages were only imported to the first forum. It may be that the other forums are private. I’ll have another go tomorrow but first change the private forums to public.
let us know how you make out… we are close to having the importer ready for 5.0…
All being well I should have a beta version up on the V5 download page later tonight.
Sounds promising. I’ll hold off for a while in case you do manage to get it up.
You dont mention having to first upgrade from 4.5.0 to 4.5.1 before upgrading to 5.0.
Is this step to 4.5.1 needed or can I go for 5.0 from 4.5.0 ?
