If he was really not on 4.4.5 like it was implied then yes, needs the upgrades… the changelog provided was from 4.4.5 to 4.5.0 and there was not an upgrade for that…
do you still have the old sf-control.php file?

So can i change over those 4 files for the 4.4.5 version? Upgrade, and then do the 4.50? No I dont have the old control file but i could get one from dl’ing the 3.5 version to my computer and extracting it..hmm
The right thing to do would be to revert the database back to the one you (hopefully) made as a backup prior to changing the files. And then, before running SP, ensure you have the full 4.5.0 plugin installed and then run the upgrade.
if you do not have a backup then you can try resetting the build number. But this is where it gets tricky as you do need to set it to the correct version you were using before.
If you feel confident that this was version 4.3.5 then in the forum admin go to the Toolbox. On the right hand side enter the build number needed for 4.3.5, which is 5029 and then check the option under that to force the upgrade.
Please make sure you have the full 4.5.0 files on your server and perform a database backup before trying this. we can not offer support without that.
ok I pretty much just failed. Everythings gone lol. Its a good thing I just started this and wasn’t very serious into it. Time to start over fresh from scratch again.
basically how i ruined my forum for anyone else who sees this, i re-installed an older version of simple press the 4.3.5 thinking it would fix itself. It wouldnt even install so i went back to 4.50 which installed right away and now my forum is blank.
so i went to the uninstall in the toolbox to make sure it was a fresh start, installed the 4.50 and now its saying install complete but i have nothing. Goodness gracious
really sorry about all this… but does highlight a couple of things – and not trying to point this at you or pick on you, but just using it to emphasize some points for anyone else that comes along to this thread…
one, as we always say, make a database backup before you begin…
and two, always relay pertinent information… asking what files changed for the latest upgrade implies moving from the previous version… obviously would have proceeded differently if we knew your version was not current… when opening a ticket, please give your wp and sp versions…
without a db backup here and not knowing exactly where you came from, hard to know how to proceed and solve your problem….
It’s my fault but sometimes you have to learn the hard way. So why can’t I just install 4.50 complete into my wp 3.3 version and be good to go from a fresh forum? Everything goes through with the upload, i activate it, then i go to install and all the phases pop up fast as if theyre already installed and thats all it does. I have no forum, it just keeps saying I have to install it.
My confusion is how can information be stored into the database and I have no access to them?
ok so i refreshed my wordpress at the page where it shows it installed all the phases just to see and now all of a sudden it installs like it should and now I have a forum?? This is being so weird.
sorry, confused based on your other tickets… is the forum needing an upgrade or not? you are still on 4.4.5?
