Hello,
It will be grat to see options for moderator topics handling, like a:
- splitting topics
- joining topics
- sticking topics in some kind of layers (lsticking topics on all forums, one forum (out of other posts), at the top of the forum)
These are ideas from phpBB forum, what I think they are very useful!

splitting topics are high on our list... not sure about joining topics - can be considered... your layered pin topics idea seems like a lot of work for little benefit (just post in each forum) but can again be considered...

On a related admin front. If there was a topic that had several unsavoury posts in that I wanted to move en-masse to a new archive to use as evidence against an offender currently each has to be moved individually and a copy of the new topic is generated for each post. I would like to be able to select several posts from a topic and move them to a new topic en-masse.
I am sorry if this is already there and I have missed how to do this.

OK, maybe I described my wish on a wrong way :). When I talking about layered pin topics, I mean on pinned topics which appear on all forums like a important message or some kind of global notice... 🙂 (normally pinned topics (inside each forum/subforum) we have right now in SP and this works well!)

No you cannot pick multiple posts and move them to new topic. Currently each post would create a new topic. We have an open ticket to allow moving a post to an existing topic which will get very high priority in 5.1... so you could move one post to new topic then individually move the other posts to that new topic and join them...
I would think anymore of a UI to accomplish what you want would be strictly plugin material... certainly doable, but fringe case for including in core.
Grof, you can already do a custom forum message for each forum... wont appear as pinned topic, but message below the forum description... and if you wanted to put similar message across all, you can do it now using a hook... hook into the start of the forum dispay or pre first topic and just output the message...
