I am using the image uploaded plugin. It uploads images, creates a small thumb and you have to click the thumb to see the full image.

My question is, is there a n uploader setting/variation where the image can be embedded  into the post? (NOT using an embedd code but a simple upload)?

There is no embed code.. The image is inserted but it is thumbnail...

You can change size of thumbnail of remove use completely on forum -  options -  content settings  

Note, if you remove size constraint you may have to add css to ensure large images don't overflow borders
