Insert image?

I click on insert / edit image and get a window requesting the “source”.

What is the “source” and how do I insert an image from my drive?

I uploaded an image and that worked fine, but what is that point of that “insert image” button when you can’t insert anything?

Hey Christine,

‘Insert / Edit image’ is for inserting images from the web, for example right click on a picture and copy the URL, paste it into the ‘source’ box and the picture will be inserted into your post.

I’m confused though, you say ‘how do I insert an image from my drive?’, but then go on to say you ‘uploaded an image and that worked fine’.

So I’m guessing you are running the File Uploader plugin and you uploaded an image from the ‘Attachments’ button?

So is that all OK?

to elaborate on Ike’s point…. the button in the tinymce editor is for exactly what Ike mentioned – for adding a url for an image located somewhere on the internet – its actually provided as part of the editor by WordPress, not Simple Press…

if you want to upload and image from you computer, you want to use the file uploader which will automatically insert it into a post…  if you want to later on use an image that was previously uploaded, you should use the uploads viewer plugin for simple press which lets you browse your previously uploaded images…

Now, if the wp editor button for linking to image is confusing for you, you can remove it on forum – components – editor tinymce… just remove ‘image’ from the plugin list and the toolbar where its used..

I had thought of uploading while I was writing my first post, so I figured that out.

I’m going to have a “How to” faq and I suppose the image url could be useful occasionally, so I’ll leave it there.  Don’t know why they don’t have the “browse” option to upload from drive in the editor …

Thanks!

Christine

well, if you have used the wp editor for new posts, you have probably seen the media uploader… that is how you upload images in the wp editor in the post editor…

you are welcome!
