As demonstrated with my attached screenshots, the layout of the forum looks really awkward until someone signs in, at which point it becomes perfectly formed. My obvious concern is that the awkwardness of the initial layout will put people off from registering in the first place.

I made the page full width hoping this would fix it, but this hasn’t made a difference. Note how the bottom section of the forum looks messy. Plus it incorporates my footer info which it shouldn’t.

Go to the forum admin > Options > Topic settings and turn off the option to ‘Show First Post Extract as Tooltip’.
The problem is that the post has an html table in it and the tooltip has truncated that in the middle thus causing the following display to be corrupted.
This is an issue that is, I believe, fixed in version 5.
That has fixed it – thank you ever so much. It looks really good now.
