Logout going to WP login screen

I am wondering if there is anyway when someone gets logged out of the forum automatically if they can land on the forum homepage instead of the WP default login page?

Our clients don’t use the WP side of our site at all so it is a bit confusing when they land there.

Thanks!

Check your settings for SP Admin -> Components -> Login & Registration

See: Logout Redirect

likely what Jim says… but if you have a membership plugin, it may also have a logout redirection…

Yes, I have set both of those redirections to pages on my site.

But the problem is when the forum logs people out automatically.  It is as if they get timed out.  Then they are redirected to the WP login page.  Can that be overridden?

I am sorry but we do need to stress this – the forum does NOT log anyone out. It can not and does not. Login, user management,. registration… these are ALL controlled entirely by WordPress itself – or any membership or use access type plugin that might be in operation.

IF you are seeing your members being arbitrarily logged out then you do need to take a closer look at what other items may be involved. Simple:Press accepts whatever WordPress informs us is the logged in state of the current user. We respond accordingly.

WordPress allows you to set redirections on the login, logout and registration processes. If you have these set and they are not working then, as Mr Papa suggested, the chances are that something else you have active os overriding those settings and grabbing precedence.

I think I understand what you are saying Yellow Swordfish.  Sorry it has taken me a bit to wrap my brain around it.

Can you tell me how you customize your WP login screen with the SP logo?  If I can do that and make it look like another page on my website, that might solve the problem.

The easiest way is to install a small WP plugin named ‘Login Logo’ by Mark Jaquith, one of the WordPress dev team. It tells you in the notes how big to make the graphic and where to put it. Very simple.

Hi YS!

I was actually browsing the forum because I am after a reccomandation on a plugin to do the login with a nicer UI than the standard WP login. And I found this post. I just checked this plugin but it hasn’t been uodated in 2 years so I don’t feel to confortable even trying it. Is there any other plugin you would reccomend? Thanks in advance. Giovanna

It hasnt been updated in 2 years because there is no reason to update it… its so simple, it just works… WP would have to make a major change to the login system for it to require any updates…

but you could always look at theme my login plugin too…

Ok thanks for the reply Mr Papa. I will try both plugins, although at the moment I am struggling with registration emails not being delivered, and am looking at posts here on the forum of other people whom had the same problem. I didn’t solve it yet confused

If ALL you want is to show a logo/image then I assure you this plugin is good/ The author is a core WP developer who, let’s face it, knows more about the inner workings and likely changes than any of us do! As Mr Papa said – it has not been updated simply because there is no need and it really is a very simple plugin.

If you want more than just easily adding your own image then TML may be the way to go.
