By member list, I mean something to create a directory page. I guess you don't have that but I'm sure there are other plugins that do.
As for friends, that isn't really necessary because nearly everyone will also be on our facebook page with friends there. I would just as soon not have an "adversaries" option.
I am struggling with the basics of setting up, such as getting profiles to appear, but I will make separate posts.
Not sure, of course, what your definition is of a 'Directory Page' exactly.
'Buddies' in SP is simply a way of defining a group of other members you can keep in a list to use in private messaging. Like an address book - they will always show up instantly without having to hunt and find them when sending a PM.

No problem. What we have is a whole website (http://sacsteam.org/sac-steam-society/) not just a forum. People will come to the static home page and may be interested in who's in the group.
I realize that Simple:Press is a forum, not a complete social networking solution. We will find a directory plugin etc. before going public.
you can disable the adversaries part of the PM plugin...

forum - profile - tabs and menus... just turn off the whole tab or just the buddies or adversaries menus...
