Hi,

I have spent 30+ minutes trying to understand where to update my entire forum so that the First Post has to be moderated by me. In plain English, can you please show me where this setting needs to be changed?

I would appreciate where the actual setting needs to be clicked as I can not find anywhere where is says True/False to be changed and from the directions, it’s not clear.

Firstly, the permission set must exist. Go to Forum – Permissions > Manage Permission Sets and either edit one to use for this purpose or create one specially.. You basically need a permission set that has every permission in the ‘Moderation’ box UN-checked.

If assigning it to an entire forum group, go to Forum > Manage Groups and Forums, find your forum group and click the ‘Add Permission’ button. Pick your usergroup and pick your permission.

If you have more than one usergroup you want to use the same permission then repeat the process.

If you want to assign it to an individual forum instead of the entire group then you can do that the same way.

It really is worth reading the Codex FAQ’s, getting started guide, pages on permissions, usergroups and the rest. All the information you need is there. And of course if you ever get stuck looking at a panel in the forum admin be sure to click the ‘Help’ popup to find out what it does.

Themes
The theme we use here is called ‘Reboot’ and is one of our premium and fully responsive (mobile) themes. We use the ‘Orange’ overlay bit there are several others. Icons are supplied but – as stated above – you are free to change all of any of them as you prefer.

I asked the question about the use of this Theme, you said Orange Reboot Mobile version, I asked about your Icon’s, you said they are supplied. However, when I switched to this custom theme, these icons that you have are not included. Please clarify. Also, who can do some customization if desired? Recommendations?

Thanks Ike.. The email response you gave me and where to do is where I was, but… the section in the FAQ has you looking for a TRUE value and False value which is misleading. You said look for Moderator’s section that’s what is should say there rather thank to look for the T/F values.

Ike.. Apparently Swordfish can’t read… Can you please address my question. I asked him about the present theme being used here and IF THE ICONS WERE INCLUDED. Based on the Display for the Reboot theme and looking at the pictures, one would think it IS included. However, I downloaded it and the child theme and I don’t see them included. So, in plain English, I have asked are those Icons that are showing on this particular forum included. I have Mr. Papa saying yes, Swordfish saying no. Why is this such a difficult question to answer? If they are not included, why are they shown in the ad as if they were? Not trying to be an A hole here, but… Swordfish can’t seem to answer a simple question and appears to be slightly arrogant in this responses.  Not Customer oriented and trying to help answer a simple question to a gold member? It is a Yes/No answer… Not look here,but if you look there, blah,blah… Just simply answer the question about the icons!  Brian

I’m not 100% sure Mr Papa has actually said yes to this question although maybe I’ve missed it somewhere. He was referring to the generic forum icons which come with each theme – In Reboot’s case the sheets of paper and the chat bubbles.

No, the icons you see pictured on the theme screenshots do not come with Reboot, same goes for Unified. Local copies of our support site were used for the screenshots. One could argue that it shows how the forum would look with custom icons, but to be honest this is the first time someone has ever asked if they come with the theme.

Further more, forum icons are a very specific to forum thing. I’m not actually sure why you’d want these ones especially given the difference in our two forums!

And again (arrogantly if you wish) I point you to my post #15 which answered your questions. When you read this or an other post – look above beside the date and to the right. There are a string of ‘icons’. Reboot actually comes with a very large number of icons of which these few are representative.

For special, custom ‘group’ and ‘forum’ icons – which are more like illustrations or avatars – I think I clearly stated why it would be pointless and daft and impossible to supply them.  Impossible because they would make no sense to most forums.  They are custom and have to remain custom.

On the other issue about ‘true/false’ – checkboxes have been a staple of GUI’s since the first Apple Mac – about 1983. A checkbox is universally understood to mean yes/no, on/off or true/false. I am sorry you did not understand this.

I am still looking for some help with setting up my site, specifically waiting for the answer about the icons and why the advertising of the 2 premium themes shows the icons used here, but they don’t appear when you purchase the premium themes. Which is a bit misleading and if they are NOT included, why don’t you clarify this?

Also, the Orange color on your site appears to be a different orange on the Reboot theme for me? Any ideas why by chance?

I don’t want to come across rude here but I’m pretty sure I cleared that one up nicely..

As to why the forum theme is different here, it’s because we use our own custom theme. We offer plenty of help and documentation on how to go about making a custom theme / overlay although a basic understanding of CSS is required which is why we offer the custom theme service.

But as to your second post there, good choice – the midnight overlay is a good one

So… I would like to know the cost to get the Child Reboot theme activated? I tried but w/o any luck. I asked for help w/o any response. So, back to square one… Who at SP can help me get the them like your installed in orange?

Reading back through this topic I notice you have indeed made several references to having help directly with your own website. But I also note that they have actually been just as regularly answered. I am also aware that you sent a PM to my colleague, Ike, asking how to get help.

As I answered in post #9 on this thread: “If you really feel you require help please send a PM to the forum admins here (all 3 of us) with a detailed list of what you need and we can prepare a quote for the work”. You did not do this.

The PM was also answered by Ike who said: “Yes we do offer a custom theme service – Please check out our Custom Theme Service page for more info, take a read as it does outline a few important factors. What exactly are you looking for? Please try and be as specific / descriptive and as clear as possible”. You did not answer this either.

While you have mentioned one or two things – somewhat erratically I feel – there has been no direct response and detail to what you wish to actually get done. If all you want now is the Reboot theme with the same colour orange that is used here then please send a PM to Ike confirming this – who will respond – just as we have responded all along.

It would be remiss of me not to also mention – for information purposes – that technically your support membership here is suspended. On opening you dispute with PayPal your membership cost was deducted from our account until the matter is settled. Note that we did not physically suspend the account at this point in time. But we were somewhat surprised to see you posting again.
