I created sub-forums and deleted them. However I can still see them on the front page. At the back end, I cannot see them.
Can you please tell me how to delete from the front page?

Are you running any caching plugins? If so, you need to exclude the forum from being cached.

Not using any cashing plugins. I am suspecting that it might be related to some database issue. As you see from the second image, there is a gap which doesnt exist in the first image which might cause the issue.

Most curious, I have not seen something like that before.
So if you open the ordering panel (,like the image in the left) and perform a Save/Update does that clear things? And if not - are you able to look at your database tables to see if there is a rogue entry for some reason?

Saving doesnt work. I tried that before. If you can guide me, I can access and dig into the database tables.

you need to look into your db with a db management tool such as phpmyadmin... almost all hosts provide such a tool...
then look at the entries in the wp_sfforums table (your wp prefix might be other than wp_)...
