Hi Guys.. Themes that generate open graph might need to be disabled on the forum page. Use a totally blank forum page with a small featured image.
I have found that Yoast is applying open graph data to the main forum page. Unfortunately open graph takes precedence over meta tags as in (title and description.) This has more to do with social sharing than anything else.
Here is my forum page settings.
And simple press seo settings.

yes, if you dont want the open graph tags, you will have to remove them via hooks for the specific plugin... wp seo provides these hooks...
in the next version of simple press 5.5.9 due any week now (just waiting on wp 5.5.9), we will have options for adding our own open graph tags...

Glad to hear the alt meta has been corrected too. Look forward to the next release.
I done figured it out that keeping up with Google's increasing demands is rewarded with accelerated page ranking.
With that being said, would it be possible to add support for rich text? http://microformats.org/wiki/hentry

Hi Andy..
Henrty is post specific Structured Data AKA Rich Snippet Data specific to a post, page, category, or tag. It is mostly theme specific for WordPress sites. Here is more info.
Here is a link to the testing tool. If a site / theme does not have hentry data it will not show up in the tool. But if it's there and has errors they will show. This is testing a blog post.
Hentry errors are also shown in your Webmaster Tools dashboard under search appearance > structured data.
Ain't this fun!
Email me if you need help understanding this. I'm always glad to help out.
