First of all, I must thank you for such an AWESOME plugin. I am shocked at all the thing it can do.  thanks YOU very much for all the work you have done.

Question: I am having trouble uploading the plugins as well.  On other posts, I see you say to upload to wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins but when I go into my FTP my folders say /wp-content/plugins/simple-press/resources .  When I upload here I cannot see the plugin to activate them.  Any ideas?

in your sp admin, do you see sp admin menu for sp plugins and sp themes?  if not, go to forum - admins - manage admins and add the mange themes and plugins caps...  at 5.0 install or upgrade, only the admin who did the upgrade/install gets that...  but you can add anyone...

if that is good, then that suggests on your server, when the sp-resources directory was created it got the wrong permissions or owner... normally, its the owner that got set wrong... please check that...

Thanks for the reply.  I did have all those checked but still nothing.  I noticed when I go to SP admin and click on plugins in says the plugins folder is Plugins Folder: wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins  I dont have that anywhere  I have  /wp-content/plugins/simple-press/resources  so I tried to create the directory and it now looks like this /wp-content/plugins/simple-press/resources/forum-plugins  but when I go back to the admin and look for the plugins I uploaded which were private messaging, captcha and blog linking they still don't show.  What am I doing wrong?

so first, yes, the sp-resources is created (if your server set up allows it) at install or upgrade to 5.0...

if it cant, it does give you an error and ask you to do manually...

so inside sp-resources/forum-plugins, you should have directory for each plugin, ie private-messaging, captcha, etc... do you have those directories?

please check permissions and owner of the sp-resources dir too...

what does the admin panel say for plugins when you load it?

I don't have sp-resoucres I have simple-press resources could that be the problem?  In my FTP I have Simple-Press not sp

with these directories... resources which had only a folder that says images and jscript (that's where I created the forum-plugins

directory) that didn't work... then I have a directory for... forum... sp-api and sp-startup....(notice these says SP and not

simple-press) sp startup has an admin folder... forum... install.... and site directories and then 8 .php files no where can I find

where the SP admin says the plugin folder is which is  wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins ... if I copy and paste

wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins into my ftp which is where admin says the plugins are i get this from mozilla

550 Can't change directory to /wp-content/sp-resources: No such file or directory

it should be:

wp-content/sp-resources

and then /forum-plugins, /forum-themes or other..

and that message indicates that on your server, the sp-resources directory was created with the improper owner due to server configuration...  either change via ssh or contact your host... it needs to be accessible via the web user...

you have to be kidding??? go daddy cannot tell who the owner of a directory is??? says volumes about them I guess...

do you have ssh? just do an 'ls -la' on the directory and it will tell you who the owners are, ie user:group compare that who who owns wp-content for example...

if not ssh, do you have ftp? then right click on the directory and select properties... see who the owner is... and again compare to wp-content

this may not be the problem... but for the handful that could not actually read that directory, it has been...
