I don’t think you have to go back further. I have kept SP current since switching to it about 6 months ago. Most definitely, the images used to post. You can read on the thread – users are saying, “I can’t see the images.”

So I can’t recall what version I was using, but I do recall that this is my second update and the images have always posted until now.

I switched to SP right before you released the unified theme if that helps.

Going to need some help with this – Steve? Brandon? Anyone!

There is absolutely no way I can get this to work and it never should have worked – and doesn’t for me. This is NOT a genuine image tag plus it has no dimensional information with it. When the server tries to interrogate the ‘image’ to get the sizes etc., it fails exactly as it should.

The puzzle is why did it work before. If we knew that we might be able to work some workaround. So – need some help guys.

I have never tried it personally so don’t know what it did before WP 3.8 but I will take a look. Both in WP and how Amazon creates that code. For all we know Amazon changed. :)

Here is the quick fix for you Elsa.

I turned off “Use popup image enlargement” in your SP admin. Now all your Amazon images are back.  I don’t know if it was turned on before or what changed but turning it off brought them back.

@Andy.. To make it work on my dev site I have to turn off both “Use popup image enlargement” and “Always use image thumbnails”

Also, if you post the code into WP post editor it does work there too.

I have not looked at any of the SP coding on this.

That works for you?

I don’t get that to work either in my systems – 5.3.4 or 5.4.0…

OK – this gets more interesting.

I DO see it on your site using Chrome/Safari. But I do NOT see these when using Firefox.

And now I find that my own tests – which I have been saying over and over do not work – DO appear using Chrome. Needless to say, I use Firefox most of the time.

So – looks like perhaps there is  also have a browser issue at play.

Can  someone else conform of thos is the case for them. I am using Firefox on a Mac/OSX platform.

I am still seeing the images on http://www.elsaelsa.com/forum/lounge/what-people-are-buying-on-amazon-december-2013/

Did your browser get updated or using a different one?

I dont see any images on that link using Firefox… and yes, firefox did roll out an update yesterday, v26.0…  I did see them a week ago using the older firefox…

so Elsa, you might check  your firefox version to compare if that is what you use as while you may not have changed it, perhaps it auto updated…  or perhaps another browser too for more info…

Thanks, Mr. Papa. I figure it’s that or an ad-blocking thing or some such.  That’s going to be my assumption, going forward.

I have a very similar problem. Both WP and S:P are on the latest versions and the problem has reared it’s head since the latest S:P update. I am using a fairly old version of Linux Mint with FF 20.0, as it is an old version, nothing has been updated recently. I have also had reports from Members using Windows and the latest version of FF to the same effect.

Just before the update an error started with pictures uploaded directly to the forum in that the sizes were not added to the HTML tag meaning that the picture did not display in the edit box, although when the message was posted it did appear. This resulted in the picture being displayed multiple times as forum users thought the pictures were not added as they couldn’t see them in the edit box (exactly as described in the first 2 posts).

Since the update, that particular error seems to be less of a problem although I am reluctant to say it never occurs, and now a different problem has arisen although strangely similar.

Some Members use Photobucket to host their pictures and have always posted links to them which has always worked fine, now, using the same methods as before, they enter the code supplied by Photobucket and whilst in the edit box the picture appears as normal. As soon as the message is posted, instead of the picture there is a line stating ‘Image cannot be found’! If the edit box is opened, the image is shown as expected. This is both on new posts and earlier posts that have, until recently, been working perfectly.

I followed the instructions suggested by Brandon in this thread and unchecked ‘Use popup image enlargement’ and ‘Always use image thumbnails’ and the images now appear in the messages. Both the above have to be unchecked for this to work.

There is another Topic here https://simple-press.com/support-forum/sp5-general-topics/minor-image-inserting-issue-under-safari-and-google-chrome/ which seems to have some relevance to both the above problems, and another here https://simple-press.com/support-forum/sp5-plugin-topics/tinymce-and-html/

As an example, below is the code one of the Members used from Photobucket which displays the above behaviour.

NOTE:- If I re-check the 2 settings S:P reverts to showing the error message so the error is able to be reproduced.
