Question regarding User Groups.

This may well be a silly question as I’m new to Simple Press.

  •  I’ve added a new Role to WordPress … “Participant”. Done this so I can get certain new people to only view part of the forum.
  •  In the forum I’ve added the new user group “Participant”. 
  •  For the forums I don’t want them to access I’ve made Participant => No Access
  •  So far so good! Make a new WordPress user as Participant. However, the new user under WordPress still has access to these forums and if I look under Users in Simple Press, they show as Members, not Participants.

Help please!!! 🙂

It sounds like you need to visit the forum admin > user groups > map users to user groups. This is where you can map specific WP roles to specific SP user groups and also set the default user group for new registrants and guests. 

Note you can also set things here so that your users are only ever allowed to be in a single user group at a time.

And finally,at the bottom, you can reset all the memberships top your new settings. I think this should sort you out.
