Support Forum
Just updated to Wordpress 3.3 (from 3.3 beta), and updated SPF using the inbuilt updater. After performing the upgrade afterwards, I now get the following error message:
Call to undefined function wp_create_nonce() in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/sermon/public_html/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/private-messaging/sp-pm-plugin.php
This occurs everywhere in the site, front and back-end - I'll have to rename the plugin to disable it just in order to proceed.
<update>It looks like this was caused by an incompatibility between an old version of the plugin and the new version of SPF. I guess the answer is either to (a) Have the updater update plugins automatically when you update SPF, (b) After an update re-enable plugins in a sandbox, (c) Refuse to run the updater until plugins are up to date.
In other news, I wasn't able to update multiple SPF plugins at a time. After the first one or two, I got a "Plugin is up to date" error.</update>
I think the main problem is one of being currently in beta although I do recognise that from time to time there may be a dependency between core and a plugin. This is the same as updating your WP core without also updating WP plugins to the new version. But certainly during a beta period there may be one or two times where we do need to link updates of more than one item.
I will tell Steve about the updater issue. WP do not make it easy for us because that whole updater code is really geared for being loaded from their own plugin repository. Getting it to function outside of that gated community is a bit of a challenge!

currently, the wp updater (and its built into wp) does not support plugin or theme dependency like that...
