delete icons you uploaded?  can you elaborate?  are you talking about icons uploaded via forum – forums – custom icons?  if so, on forum – integration – storage location, do you have positive responses on the permissions of storage locations?  the front end link provided of course wouldnt help for an admin issue with icons… so might need some clarity…

as to post editor, are you saying when you try to create a post, you cannot type in the post content field?  or just cannot cancel a post?

any caching on the site?  since the forum page is dynamic, it cannot be cached..

yes custom icons, can’t delete them. but the images are already in the right folder in my file manager, cpanel.

im using WP-Rocket.

yes, storage locations are good. WP-Rocket is a caching plugin.

Are you excluding the forum page from being cached assuming WP-Rocket allows you to?

Caching relies on static information like WP posts and pages, Simple:Press runs dynamically on one page and therefor caching will cause issues.

Excluding the page is definitely the first thing to try. Also if there is a way of clearing the WP-Rocket cache that should also be done to make sure nothing forum related is still in the cache so to speak.

Ike’s point above regarding caching is crucially important and I know we have had some issues with wp-rocket settings in the past – we need to search the forum to try and find them. 

But in regards to the question above then yes – by all means create an account and then please PM credentials to both myself, to ‘Mr Papa‘ and to ‘Ike‘. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

im having issues with add reply and add topic, both get stuck and the only way to get back to the forum is to refresh – this happens in desktop mode. thanks.

this happens during PM as well, and also while using any theme.

Well – that’s behaviour we have never seen before!

One question and a first thing to try… so let’s start with the question. Has the editing issue been like this since day 1 when you installed SP and tried it out (after resolving the sp_get_option conflict) or did it start happening afterwards? 

I think the first thing to look into is the WordPress plugin you have active that adds something (I am not sure what) to the tinyMCE editor. This is clearly a plugin designed to add something to the editing of blog posts but it is attempting to also load itself into the forum instance of the editor yet I don’t see anything showing up. This could be causing al kinds of confusion even if I am seeing no actual errors reported.

I would suggest that the best and easiest way to test this would simply be to deactivate the SP TinyMCE editor plugin and try editing with the plain text default (simple textarea) to see if the problem continues to happen with that. If it does continue then I think we may have to start looking at your WP theme as the conflict area so perhaps you could tell me what the theme is.

it has a conflict with the theme, i tried to use simple-press with another theme and it’s working fine – add reply and add topic.

even the other issue – cannot delete custom icons is caused by my theme

also when trying to post, the post editor stays stuck – it doesn’t want to go up to the previous posts. even if you cancel posting, it just stays there. you have to refresh to be able to view the thread again. it stays stuck in this position –>

I also run newsmag, love it but it does have some quirks with simplepress, one of those quirk being the anchors in it. Ever notice when you click on the last post and it starts at the top of the forum and it slides down the page to the last post versus going to the last post directly like it does here? That might be causing the issue, try this solution and see if it fixes it.

there is a few other things you might want to tweak, the login on mobile will hide behind your header, embedded videos are huge but with your sidebar that might be an issue for you, quotes will be huge like they are on the blog side, stuff like that. If you want I can share with you some css rules that you can put in the newsmag custom css that will fix those..
