Has anyone successfully set up social share buttons in 5.0? There seem to be issues with various plugins so far that used to work before such as floating share types etc.
sure… just hook into the location you want to display them and call the template tag or function for displaying whatever share buttons you want…

Any ideas why a plugin that used to work (floating share buttons type of thing) no longer works? I realize this is a very general question, so I guess I’m only looking for a general answer.
what does not work? js error? located in wrong spot? other?
and assume you mean plugin for WP…
WP plugins (sharebar and another similar one both having issues). After the update it wasn’t allowing the floating button to float on either side of the forum, instead it was making it fixed in the midde of the page, overlapping the forum. Also, strangely, when activated they would make the New/Recently Updated Topics/Select Forum dropdown boxes stick out and overlap each other.
This is vague and maybe impossible to know what caused the new behavior, but interested to hear what comes to mind when describing it. Thanks
The most likely reason is they required updating to work with WP 3.3. Have you checked for updates? And whether – on the WP plugin repository – it states that it works for 3.3?

And as of 3.3, 5 people say it’s broken 
However it did seem to work on regular posts just fine. Oh well.
