Shortcode auto rendering.

Bit confused by this.

I don't have any shortcode plugins or manually created ones on my main Wordpress install. But when I post the url of a SoundCloud link on my Simple:Press forum it renders the default 'player' of SoundCloud.

That is a 500pixel wide default coloured played. Just typing the url as plain text:

http://soundcloud.com/dimentia.....e-acid-set

Becomes

http://soundcloud.com/dimentia.....e-acid-set

As it does on this forum here.

I can't see any settings anywhere to even know how this is happening because when I post that same link, just as plain text my Wordpress doesn't render it as anything other than plain text. Whilst I'm happy for it to render the player automatically as it does, I want the player to be 100% width and to be coloured where the player can be customised to the colours of the forum/site

It also auto renders Youtube videos which is fine but I would like to be able to change the default width.

the size settings are controlled by wp... on wp - settings - media...

both are done by oembedding...

if you want to change colors or other, you can add css styling...

Ah great.

Thank you, once again. I'm sure I'm going to have some more questions as I get deeper into SP.

Similar question to the above.

I've got the forum linking plugin installed (works fine) and I've a blog post with YouTube HTML embed code on it. It isn't published with the videos showing...

Blog article

Corresponding forum post
http://darkfloor.co.uk/board/m.....oris-noiz/

It seems from looking at the source code to replace the YouTube embed code with

"."

in the html code that makes the page.

in WP-Admin/Forum/Options/Content Settings I see an option for 'Filter out HTML pre tags' which is unchecked as I assume it should be for this.

when you say youtube embed, what do you mean?  you cannot use iframes from youtube and must use their object method instead...  allowing iframes would be a big security risk for you site...

but really, just paste the url of the video into your post... let the wp oembed do all the embedding for you... much simpler...

I meant the embed code that it gives you, which by default is now in an iframe. I can and have changed it to the old object style embed and it works.

How would I go about embedding

http://ohmresistance.bandcamp......ppstigande

It only gives you an option for iframe for HTML code. There is a shortcode for Wordpress.com but the Wordpress.org embed code is the only option provided.

since that is not an oembed supported option, you would need to embed with something other than an iframe...

if we allowed iframes in post content, anyone could put one in and do bad things on your site... very bad from security perspective...

I do understand about the security thing, but on my old forums, (MyBB powered) I had a group of 'trusted' users that had full HTML access, can I set something similar where a group of users can have the power to post iframes so they can post players?

Also it seems strange that if I post a iframe embedded player such as that from Bandcamp, that when it is republished/linked into a forum topic it's stripped out. My previous forums didn't do this, well once I had enabled HTML posting for the linked account and specific users.

Would it be possible to set the iframe up with a shortcode specifically to websites such as bandcamp rather than a blanket allow all iframe from anywhere thing?

certainly possible, but not something currently supported in sp...  you could do it via an sp plugin too, but of course, would need to be written...

with tinymce, all users can post html... you can filter the allowed html though and check by users and allow more...
