I have another question 🙂 Is there a way to specify which wordpress template file the forum uses?

I have it running on my site now, the address is http://www.blackwatergulch.com/blog/forum/

But, my site sidebar is always showing, I’d like the forum to take up the whole content area. So, I made a new template page called forum.php based on my usual template page just with the sidebar code removed, but I can’t figure out how to get it to use this new page.

any ideas?

My forum is up and running 🙂

now I just noticed that on the member list, it lists everyone who ever signed up for my blog which is fine, but it also displays everyones email address. I want that to be private, is there any way I can hide it on that list or anywhere else for that matter? I don’t want to get blamed for people getting hit with spambots or stalkers or anything else 🙂

We do not show a members email address to any other user except the forum admin. But that still confuses me because we don’t show it on the members list anyway. We DO show a users website if they have provided the address of one.

Oh ok, that’s great then 🙂 I just got worried when I saw that, but I logged out and went back to the board and couldn’t see it.

Really liking your board 🙂 it’s exactly what I was looking for

Hi, everyone

I used 4.5 a few weeks ago and was quite happy with it.

Judging from the bit I read, it seems the beta is pretty stable for 5.

“With 5.0, you will now be able to use the wp updater within the admin to update to new versions!”

So, I want to put it on a live site and just don’t want to have to re-install from scratch – hence from this point on, from what I quoted, the upgrade path from beta to final release version will now all be automatic?

I gathered this from the quote, but wanted to confirm prior to install.

Yes -AFTER it is installed for the first time.
Same goes for V5 SP Plugins and themes.

Hey folks!

Complete Green Horn here 😉

In my first round, I failed to install correctly. I will try again.

Quick questions:

Can I reverse the thread order? I want newest first.

It appears I can display Simple-Press output via a single post page?

The end game is to allow local news for http://TRCBNews.com

(dumping the Sports section)

I’m *blown away* at the signup process here! Bravo!

So far, I’m not allowing any signup for anything… beta to come.

It appears unlike BuddyPress (overkill for me) user signup goes into the WP users?

Great work here! cool

TIA to my stupid questions.

forum – options – display settings to change thread order…

sp already displays on single wp page so dont understand your question…

sp is plugin for wp, so yes we simply piggy back on the wp users…

Cool stuff.

I was brain dead after a long day and only found you less than 24 hrs ago. My failure in install was a locked down WP. I got it this afternoon on Instant WP. Sweet stuff you got!

I’m using Headway Themes which is a WISWIG CSS theme environment. So the little Gem you got here should give me Single Page Posts it appears.

Turn off some stuff you already got, turn it on later so I’m a hero down the road.

Give me a bit to wrap my head around this stuff here and I’ll make some How-To Videos for V5. I’m good at Video.

Thanks Mr. Papa!

Oh yes. help like that would always be most welcomed. As always with just a small team, we are always behind on the help and documentation!

Good to meet you. Yellow Swordfish!

I have a career in Docs. If you look in Amazon, my name last century was Tim Catura-Houser. Been Tcat Houser for 12 years.

I may be going out on a limb here, and I assume the need for Video is great too.

Can I ask about localization? The latest Camtasia supports Sub Titles via speech conversion from the audio track.

So the end game would be someone dubs a video already done, then talks in their native lang. This assumes Windows usage. A little training (about 1 or 2 hours) lets MS Speech do the heavy lifting of sub-titling, with just a little manual clean up for Speako’s.

My research suggests English first, German 2nd. Then Italian, French and finally Spanish to cover the EU area. Russian is a great un-official language need.

A bit off topic, and Simple-Press completely ROCKS.

I don’t need the overhead of a BuddyPress. BBPress is too limited. I feel like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears. SPV is just right!

As soon as I tried it on a test site, Bang. Single Page Post was it! Easy setup, great features!

I’ll be studying for advanced concepts shortly. I would like to break down the Forums to multiple menu offerings.

In the case of TRCBNews, 50 states as groups looks like a bit of a long list for mobile devices.

(congrats on getting mobile in this re-do, BTW)

Today I saw another Build update, I don’t even remember the numbers.  Are there releases notes for each build?  I would be interested to take a look at what have been changed before or after I apply a new build release.

Also, I tried looking which version of S:P this forum is currently running.  I found the little (i) info button at the bottom next to the © Simple:Press text and unfortunatly the version is not listed.  That could be a great addition.  When we visit another S:P forum we could take a look there and see what version it’s running.  So are you currently running 5 beta?

Thanks
