My system says SimplePress v 5.6, but I have a plugin message that 5.5.8 is a newer version and mine needed to be upgraded. I did so, and it would not install, saying I had a newer version installed on my system and needed to downgrade. That seems true given that 5.6 is higher than 5.5.8, but something doesn’t seem right here. Is there or is there not a new upgrade, and, if so, how do I get around this dilemma??

The real question is why does your Simple:Press mention 5.6 as we have never issued a 5.6 and 5.5.8 is the most up to date version. We do not even have a 5.6 version planned at the moment!
So if you visit the forum admin > toolbox it should show two values – version and build number What are they please?
It says version 5.6. I checked the edit file and it said last change date 5-31-2015. I couldn’t find the build info

Ah – version 6.0 is different. Please see this: https://simple-press.com/simplepress-version-5-5-8-available-now/
There should be no problem upgrading from the erroneous V6.0 to V5.5.8 as it was especially built in to allow it and so far a large number of users have successfully done so. Can you just walk me through what you have done to get to this point please?
